Avi Lewittes is Chief Investment Officer of The Scion Group LLC, the largest privately-held owner and operator of student housing communities in the United States. He joined Scion in 2012 and is responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s strategy as well as all investment and capital raising activities. Avi has been instrumental in positioning Scion as the leading consolidator of purpose-built student housing communities in the US. Before joining Scion, he served as Chief Investment Officer of Aviv Reit, a leading US owner of over 300 post-acute and long-term care facilities net leased to a diverse group of operators. Before 2010, Avi spent 20 years as an investment banker, primarily with JP Morgan and UBS in New York City, with responsibility for origination and execution of mergers and acquisition transactions in the industrials and real estate sectors. He earned his MBA from Columbia Business School and his Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University.

Dave Borsos is Vice President, Capital Markets and Student Housing and has primary responsibility for managing and guiding NMHC’s multifamily finance policy as it relates to federal legislative and regulatory issues impacting capital formation for the multifamily industry. His portfolio includes housing finance reform, regulation of the financial markets and Federal agencies who impact multifamily housing. He is a frequent speaker and a sought after contributor for media coverage on capital markets. Dave has over 30 years of experience in real estate capital markets, banking and the sustainable energy markets. Before joining the Council, Dave ran DJB Enterprises whose primary focus was advisory services focused on the financial and energy markets for new business opportunities from inception through execution. He also spent 16 years at Freddie Mac in a variety of leadership roles within their Capital Markets groups focused both on the single and multifamily markets. Dave holds a BS in Chemical Engineering and an MBA in Finance from the University of Maryland.
